Tell me about yourself.

A creative and detail oriented engineer, with experience spanning across engineering, business, consulting, testing, teaching, and graphic design. I am able to establish clear and concise methods to utilize technology in order to help individuals connect, understand, and take action. I enjoy "wearing multiple hats" at a company, and I do not shy away from being challenged or working on projects that require me to work outside my comfort zone and knowledge set.

Over the course of my career as an engineer I have:
  • Created and implemented software applications and hardware solutions.
  • Been responsible for full lifecycle development of software, from initial requirements gathering to design, coding, testing, documentation and implementation.
  • Coordinated with sales, engineers, project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope, and design requirements, as well as feedback for better features and fixes.
  • Optimized processes, whether by establishing better lines of communication, documented plans, or by scripting and software means.
  • Written hundreds of pages of documentation, always with the reader's technical level and ease of use in mind.
  • Consulted, mentored, or taught, individuals from a student to professor to management level how to approach multimedia, software, and hardware problems.
  • Presented at multiple conferences with 100% satisfaction ratings, and often being ranked in the top 3 most popular sessions.
  • Volunteered my skills to organizations and private business individuals.
Through my work on various projects I have developed the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a timely and accurate manner, and I understand the importance of time management and open communication. I’ve found that being able to express concerns, roadblocks, and alternative solutions to colleagues of varying technical backgrounds can be invaluable when fostering more efficient communication between the business and engineering sides of a project. Staying up-to-date on industry trends, technology, and furthering my education whenever possible is also an important component
I will bring this same passion, dedication, and skill to your organization to help your company achieve its goals.

What are some of your goals?

Many engineers may focus on the technical side of work, but I’ve found that being able to express concerns, roadblocks, and alternative solutions to colleagues of varying technical backgrounds has been invaluable in my professional development. This is why I would eventually like to become a manager, or project manager, in a technical/engineering setting: in order to help foster more efficient communication between the business and engineering sides of projects. This helps not only a company produce a product quicker, but establish a better understanding of the other department's thought processes. My experience with being responsible and engaged at every step of the development process, and coordinating with sales, engineers, project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope, and design requirements, has given me a good foundation for this goal.

I also understand the importance of staying up-to-date on industry trends and technologies. This is why I have been, or currently am, a member of Toastmasters International and the Project Management Institute, plan to receive my CAPM and ITIL certifications, and eventually attain a Master's in Business, and a Master's in Computer Science.

Personal Strengths

Clifton StrengthsFinder / StrengthsFinder 2.0 through Gallup personality assessment results.

Achiever Strength

People who are especially talented in the Achiever theme have a great deal of stamina and work hard. They take great satisfaction from being busy and productive. Achievers love to complete tasks, and they derive fulfillment from their accomplishments. Putting it simply, people with high Achiever have a strong inner drive — an innate source of intensity, energy, and power that enables them to push hard to get things done. As a result, they often set the pace and define productivity levels for the people around them. They have an internal fire burning inside them. It pushes them to do more, to achieve more.

Learner Strength

People who are especially talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning is as important to them as the knowledge they gain. Learners are energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence. They are excited by the thrill of learning new facts, beginning a new subject, and mastering an important skill. Learning builds their confidence. People with strong Learner talents not only love to learn, but they also intuitively know how they learn best. They can learn quickly, and when focused, they can keep a group, team, and organization on the cutting edge.

Responsibility Strength

People with strong Responsibility talents take psychological ownership for anything they commit to, whether it is large or small, and they feel emotionally bound to follow it through to completion. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty. They keep their promises and honor their commitments. They don’t let people down, and they work very hard to fulfill all of their responsibilities and keep their word. Their conscientiousness, their drive for doing things right, and their impeccable ethics combine to create the reputation of being utterly dependable. The genius of those with strong Responsibility talents stems from the deep sense of dedication and ownership they feel toward the things they commit to. They are people of their word, and others know they can rely on and trust them.

Focus Strength

People who are especially talented in the Focus theme can take a direction, follow through, and make the corrections necessary to stay on track. People with strong Focus talents prioritize and then take action. They set goals. These goals serve as their compass, helping them determine priorities and make alterations when needed to get back on course. Their Focus is powerful because it forces them to filter; they instinctively evaluate each action before taking it to determine whether it will help them reach their goal. In the end, strong Focus talents push them to be efficient. They are extremely valuable team members because their single-mindedness enhances the speed and quality of their performance and keeps the team on track. While others start to wander down divergent avenues, people with strong Focus talents stay on the main road. They help others avoid time-consuming distractions and keep everyone on point.

Command Strength

People who are especially talented in the Command theme have presence. They can take control of a situation and make decisions. People with strong Command talents naturally take charge. They see what needs to be done, and they are willing to speak up. They are not frightened by confrontation; rather, they understand that confrontation is the first step toward resolution. They need things to be clear among people and will challenge others to be realistic and honest. People with strong Command bring decisiveness and emotional clarity. They have the ability to bring to light what is often avoided or unstated. This gives them the ability to resolve conflicts and misunderstandings.

Analytical Strength

People who are especially talented in the Analytical theme search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation. They take a critical approach to what others might quickly accept as truth. They search for the reasons why things are the way they are. They want to understand how certain patterns affect one another. "How do they combine?" "What is the outcome?" "Does this outcome fit with the theory offered or the situation at hand?" These are their questions. They bring an objective and dispassionate examination that enables them to find the root causes and effects, and then develop clear thoughts based on facts. Those with Analytical talents have valuable insights because they are able to uncover the essential facts needed for excellence in any endeavor. This type of thinking helps them and others become clearer about what excellence is and how it can be attained.

Context Strength

People who are especially talented in the Context theme enjoy thinking about the past. They understand the present by researching its history. Perspective and background are important for people with strong Context talents. From the past, they can discern blueprints for direction. And, counterintuitively, they become wiser about the future because they can see its seeds sown in the past. Checking the rearview mirror is essential for safe driving. It keeps drivers up to date with what’s happening behind them. In the same way, the genius of people with strong Context is their unique ability to understand the link between where they have come from and where they are going.

Relator Strength

People who are especially talented in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal. In short, a person with strong Relator talents forms close relationships with people. They may know many people, and they can relate to all kinds of people.
